About Harambee!
Harambee! is committed to fostering a sense of unity and collaboration within the alumni and friends of the Southern University of New Orleans Millie Charles School of Social Work (MMC-SSW). We aim to provide unwavering support in fundraising, recruitment, mentoring, promotion, education, and consciousness raising regarding the socio-economic viability, health, including mental health, and well-being of the general community.

About The Logo

Logos are always symbolic. Harambee’s logo has three prominent symbols.
1. The Ankh is an ancient Egyptian symbol for eternal life. It was one that was near and dear to Millie Charles, and it represents her vision that the program through it's transformative process, shall have perpetual life in addressing and transcending systemic needs in individuals, family, community and institutions. The Ankh in Ancient Egypt (Kamit), is the symbol of eternal life.
2. The silhouette of people holding hands as a symbol of a unified effort, is the means through which our goal shall be met.
3. The fervently gripped diploma symbolizes successful achievement of a major milestone in the process of servicing individuals, families, community, etc.
